Short answer: it depends on three things — how many of you are travelling, where you’re staying on the island, and what your nights look like. For some trips a private driver is the difference between holiday and logistics. For others it’s overkill.
This is what we tell people who call us asking the same question, in the same week, every June.
The Real Question Isn’t About the Car. It’s About the Calendar
Most articles answer “is a private driver worth it” by listing perks. We’re going to skip that. After fifteen seasons running transfers across this island, the pattern is clear: the people who regret not booking a driver are almost always the ones who underestimated the second night.
The first night, you’re fresh. You’ll happily wait 40 minutes for a taxi outside Pacha at 5am because the trip is still new. By the third night — when you’ve already been to a beach club lunch, a Sunset Ashram aperitif, and a dinner in Santa Gertrudis — that same wait becomes the moment your group splits into two cabs going to two different villas, and someone ends up €60 down arguing in broken Spanish about a route they didn’t agree to.
That’s the calculation nobody runs before booking the flights.
When a Private Driver in Ibiza Is Genuinely Worth It
There are five scenarios where, in our experience, the maths and the mood both line up.
1. You’re a group of four or more
A V Class fits seven passengers and eight bags. Split four ways, the airport transfer to a Salinas villa works out at €20 per person — less than what each of you would pay in a Cabify on a moderate-traffic day, and without the part where the second car gets lost on the camino.
2. You’re staying north of Santa Eulàlia
San Juan, Portinatx, Benirràs, Cala Xarraca — these zones are not what people picture when they think “Ibiza distance”. A taxi from the airport to Portinatx, if you can find one willing to do the route in August, will cost you between €90 and €120 with the night supplement. Our fixed Zone 4 rate is €150 with a Mercedes, fuel, VAT and a driver who actually knows which entrance of the villa to use.
3. Your nights involve more than one venue
This is where rideshare and taxi apps fall apart. Ibiza’s club zone has surge pricing that doesn’t really surge — it just disappears. At 3am in Playa d’en Bossa, between Hï, Ushuaïa and DC-10, the supply of taxis collapses against demand. A private driver booked by the hour solves this entirely: the same car waits, takes you to the next venue, and brings you home when you decide, not when an app finds availability.
4. You have an early flight or a tight connection
The taxi rank at Ibiza Airport is fine on a Tuesday in May. In late July, at 6am, with a charter group from Manchester landing at the same time as a delayed flight from Milan, it’s not. A confirmed pickup with a name on a sign is the kind of thing you only appreciate after the time you didn’t have one.
5. You’re hosting clients, family, or anyone you can’t afford to lose
Bachelor parties, corporate retreats, parents-in-law arriving for a milestone birthday. The cost of a driver is small compared to the cost of one wrong logistic on a day that’s supposed to be perfect.
When It’s Not Worth It
A private driver isn’t the right answer for everyone. If you’re a solo traveller staying in Ibiza Town and you don’t plan to leave the centre for more than one or two beach trips a week, a mix of walking, taxi and the L25 bus will serve you better — and it’ll cost a fraction.

What a Private Driver Actually Costs in Ibiza
- Zone 1: Ibiza Town, Salinas, Talamanca, Cala Jondal — €80
- Zone 2: San Antonio, San José, Santa Inés — €100

The One Mistake Almost Everyone Makes
People book the airport transfer. Then they wait until the second day on the island to “see how it goes” before deciding about the rest of the week.
If you’re going to use a driver at any point during the trip, decide before you fly.
